Leah Coffman is a multimedia artist who began painting in earnest following her retirement in 2015. Before that, she devoted much of her professional career to Workforce Development in the Roanoke and surrounding area at Virginia Western Community College and then part-time after retirement in the Continuing and Professional Education Division at Virginia Tech.
Leah received her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Radford in 2000.  She lives in Fincastle, VA, with her husband, a dog and an array of cats and horses.
Leah’s work includes images inspired by her love of horses and other animals and her love of rural country living. Many of her paintings and drawings have a story behind them. The Gone to the Dogs collection features local dogs rescued from the SPCA. The Peruvian Horse collection features examples of this rare, elegant, historic breed (including two of her own horses). The donkeys reflect many different aspects of friends’ pets. Her work ranges from color pencil drawings of horses and family pets to more advanced watercolor paintings of horses, people, and still life collections. Leah is a master at capturing the true spirit of a horse in her paintings and handles other subject matter equally well.
